An Inaugural Voyage into Season 2024 with Dvorak’s ‘Dumky’ Trio

Christie Julien

Renowned French pianist Christie Julien, acclaimed for her captivating performances, made her USA solo debut at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., playing Bartok Concerto No. 3 with the National Symphony Orchestra under Maestro Leonard Slatkin. The Washington Post’s Tim Page praised Julien’s pianism as “imbued with power and abstracted poetry.” Recent highlights include performances of Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No. 1, Chopin Concerto No. 1 (Conductor Luis Haza), Beethoven ‘Emperor’ Concerto (Conductor Jed Gaylin), and Grieg Piano Concerto (Conductor Richard Weilenmann) in the United States, along with Beethoven 4th in Bogotá. Her exceptional artistry shone at the Cape May Festival in June 2003, earning praise for her “shimmering gossamer web of sound.” Julien’s versatility extends to chamber music, with appearances at prestigious festivals like Santa Fe, La Jolla, Great Lakes, and Ravinia. Trained at the Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique de Paris and mentored by legendary pianist Leon Fleisher at the Peabody Conservatory, she earned accolades, including the Yamaha Scholarship and Lavoisier Scholarship from the French Government. An esteemed educator, Julien conducts Master Classes globally, sharing her expertise in musical conservatories from Beijing and Japan to Las Vegas, New Jersey, and Canada. Her journey is a testament to a profound commitment to musical excellence and a passion for nurturing the next generation of musicians.

Anne Chicheportiche

As a passionate chamber musician, Anne performed in various music festivals, including the IMG Artist’s Del Sole International Festival (California), Music Festival of the Americas (Vermont), the Killington Music Festival (Vermont), Jewish European Music Festival (Geneva) and Festival de la Cité (Lausanne).  Anne served as concertmaster of orchestras in Chicago, Washington D.C., and Miami. In 2006, she became a member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, America’s foremost orchestra for young musicians from around the world. 

An avid performer of contemporary music, Anne has premiered and recorded numerous works by contemporary composers, most recently giving the United States premiere of Nicolas Bacri’s Violin Concerto #3. She was invited to perform with Le Balcon, an established Parisian contemporary ensemble, for their United States debut. Anne has collaborated with artists of different musical genres, such as Bjork, Smokey Robinson, Barry White, The Temptations, Dionne Warwick, Ely Guerra, Natalia Lafourcade, Aleks Zyntek, and many others.

Ashley Garritson

Award-Winning Cellist, ASHLEY GARRITSON, has a distinguished career as an international soloist, chamber and orchestral musician. She has concertized with the Chicago Symphony, the Boston Symphony, ICE (International Contemporary Ensemble) of Chicago, and other groups. Most recent solo engagements include appearances with the Miami Symphony, the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music Wind Ensemble, and the Kammergild Chamber Orchestra. The Piedmont Post heralded her sound as “…exceptionally deep-toned, providing warmth…” Garritson currently serves as Principal Cello of the Miami City Ballet and the Atlantic Classical Orchestra and Miami-based Nu Deco Ensemble. She has also served as principal cellist of the Chicago Civic Orchestra and the Miami Symphony. She was the Grand Prize Winner of the Jefferson Symphony International Competition, as well as First Prize Winner the Belleville Philharmonic Concerto Competition, the Northwestern University and the Skokie Valley Concerto Competitions. Additional activities include attending Tanglewood Music Center, the Kneisel Hall Chamber Festival, and the Yellow Barn Music Festival, where she performed with artists including, Mstislav Rostropovich, Yo-Yo Ma, Bernard Haitink, Pierre Boulez, Daniel Barenboim, and others. In May 2010, she was granted the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Cello Performance by the University of Miami, Coral Gables, Florida.
